12/4: TEDxGhentSalon: Women & STEM

TEDxGhentSalon – Women & STEM

Following last year’s successful TEDxGhentSalon on Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), we are proud to present a second edition: Women & STEM!

The number of girls and women choosing for an education or career in STEM (Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics) remains relatively low: only 20-30% of students are female. We have invited some inspiring speakers, female as well as male ones, who are passionate about their field, to share their views on this observation and its potential future evolution.

Be inspired by Martine Tempels, Senior Vice President at Telenet, president of the STEM platform, who is promoting CoderDojo amongst young children. Get to know Francis Wyffels, professor at Ghent University, who is enthusiastically organizing robot competitions around the world.  Get carried away by the personal story of Eva Degraeuwe, a student-entrepreneur whose team developed an app that can save lives. And finally, fill your backpack and take part in the fascinating story of “Wetenschap op stap (Science on the move)” by Karolien De Bosscher!

Please save the date of April 12th 2016, subscribe (tickets are €5 and include a free drink) and find yourself a seat in the prestigious Aula of Ghent University!

We would like to explicitly thank our partners/sponsors: TechLadies Ghent, iMinds and the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Ghent University.

You can buy your ticket the day of the event at the entrance, but in order to do so you will need to sign up first – see below under “Tickets”.
